  • Sight words for next week:  he, was, for, on, are, as, with, his, they

  • Math:  This week in math we officially dove into our new math program.  After a quick mini-lesson, partners are rotating through centers to enhance math concepts, while the teacher is meeting with small groups.  This approach is  allowing us to better meet the individual needs of each student.  We are still working out a few kinks, but feel it went pretty smooth for the first week.

  • Writing:  We worked on the writing process this week and focused on revision, editing and publishing.  We are getting ready to fancy up our writing  for the Author’s Celebration at the beginning of next week.

  • Reading: In reading this week, we learned how to read to a partner. We sat EEKK (elbow to elbow, knee to knee), we chose one book, had a quiet voice, and took turns. On Friday, Mrs. Rich came in to meet her guided reading groups. During this time the kids were able to rotate through literacy centers, which they seemed to really enjoy.

  • Science: This week in science, we learned about our five senses. We were able to use popcorn to help us explore our five senses.

Thanks to Mrs. Barger and her mother for coming in to visit and read with the class!
